Yes I expected them to block direct connections from abroad but didn't expect all of them to block VPNs also. It's very deliberate.

Here & There:

I automated bill payments in the UK and Japan (Gas, Electric, Comms, Banking etc.).

But have found Japan, unlike the UK , will not allow me to login to the various portals e.g. Tokyo Gas, from abroad.

And in Japan they all seem to block using a VPN🤷‍♂️

In 2016, my UK apartment was the backdrop for a bit of drama, luckily no one hurt.
