Did not have the most successful beet harvest this year cause I overcrowded them, but I did harvest Some. Perhaps I will go to Michaels and get a little jar to pickle all three of my beets.

This should give me exactly enough beet brine to then pickle one (1) hardboiled egg

Even if Trans Rights was a "Losing Issue" (it's not), I think Human Rights are actually something worth standing up for and if you start deciding whose dignity isn't popular enough to defend, you're playing the Fascist Game and are a piece of shit.

I realized my desire for a dehydrator was kind of wasteful and a symptom of my 'acquire hobby tools' syndrome at work so instead I spent six hours monopolizing the kitchen and all the cookie trays and now the whole apartment smells like catnip.

I'm a joy and not annoying to live with.

The context is Venice is a somewhat reformed former Asmodean. Technically he's a Shelynite now but be was an Asmodean for a very long time... and he doesn't believe in half-assing anything.

So when a big fuckin ghost out to destroy all enemies of hell decides he's not a valid target.... well.....

Panel 1: Low fisheye angle, a many-headed Hellshadow stands on a dilapidated stage, menacing a swashbuckler. Closer, we see the back of a well-dressed Tiefling with a harpoon.
GM: "Venice, do you believe in Asmodeus?"

Panel 2: The burning demon's ribcage.
GM: "Deep in your heart?"

Panel 3: The tiefling, Venice, from the front, looking stoic and determined.
Venice: "Define 'believe'"

Panel 4: The Hellshadow, one of its heads looking toward Venice.
GM: Have you practiced worship of Asmodeus in accordance with His laws?

Panel 5: All heads turn to consider Venice.

Panel 6: Close in on Venice's face, revealing nervous sweat.
Venice: ... Yes.

Panel 7: The Hellshadow hisses, one head looking away again.

Panel 8: The Hellshadow turns its attention on a different target, attacking them.

I'm sure that's fine and doesn't mean anything.

Oh that sounds so neat!! I just started reading β€œFearless, Sleepless, Deathless” which is one part memoir, one part an exploration of the links between mycology, blackness and history. It’s by a local author I went on a mushroom walk with a couple years back and she LOVES MUSHROOMS.

SOMETIMES THATS THE ONLY THING KEEPING YOU GOING it takes like twice the mental energy to read nonfiction. What are you reading??

Big text at the top says "ok this is what a bunch of sesame street characters would look like without their fur"
This is followed by four consecutive drawings that are exactly of that. Grover is a man in his underwear with no ears and large bulbous eyes. A textbox says "this is what you wanted"
Cookie monster is a large man with a small head, also in his underwear, with his eyes erupting from the top of his head.
An accompanying text box says "you asked for this."
Grover is a slouched, pale man with a wide head and wideset eyes, and a nose like a snake, he may be nude but it's unclear, since his waist is off screen.
"Your desire for knowledge led you to this point"
Elmo is a thin man in underwear, with eyes jutting from the top of his head and a bulbous nose. He has another face coming out of his chest.
"ask yourself if you really needed everything answered."

this also means that I get surprised when I jump to a fiction book, or a non-fiction that's really more memoir and thus doesn't require a honkin bibliography, and I go 'wow! I got so much book for my book!!!!'

I've been reading a lot of history and nonfiction lately which has given me a habit of checking the back to see what percentage of the book is bibliography and annotations, because some of them make up like, 25%-30% of the page count

This Norwegian stabbur, ca 1700, one of the oldest buildings in the region. Used to store foods & other things off of the ground, away from animals.

Being an adult for me specifically in the last ten years has involved sharing my birthday with the overwhelming dread and uncertainty of American politics so today has been nice. I'm taking my half-dose of birthday delusion and accepting these little wins as God making it up to me personally.

I got possession ending which was fitting.

I spent like almost an hour on the verge of tears counting and typing out every single character and thinking 'at least this is really immersive. This really does capture the feeling of absolute soulless drudgery of data entry work. I'm suffering right now but the art is very good.'

I was playing Dead Letters Department on Halloween which was a dead miserable day for me, so I was already making terrible decisions, and I hit a part where the 'letter' was three pages of corrupted keysmash and rather than realize I was supposed to pick out the handful of words hidden as the answer

the volunteer group I work with got a big grant, part of which is going to organic poison ivy removal, and I'm obsessed with the organic poison ivy solution being 'a guy named pesky pete who's gonna show up in a hazmat suit three or four times and pull it all up by hand'

that's a whole character
