#Aardonyx is a South African sauropodomorph from the Early #Jurassic. Yates et al (2009) describe this dinosaur as being remarkably robust and recover it one of the closest relatives of the true "long-necks" that was capable of walking on just its hind legs. #FossilFriday #paleontology

Wild ass dinosaur absolutely covered in spiky bones from head to tail.

The last couple decades have been amazing for paleontology. Yall really be out there finding cool shit. This is a model of the newest and also oldest found ankylosaur. This guy grew those spikes directly from ribs and other bones. Shit is wild.

In late August Renesto et al. published a paper where they described a specimen of Lariosaurus valceresii that preserves the skin, even outlining the body and limbs as well scales. I must say that I am happy that it is very very close to what I had hypothesized 😍
