International visitors may wish to consider attending the Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology conference alongside this event.

Deakin University, Cyber Futures and Resilience Centre, will welcome you at Melbourne’s Downtown Corporate Centre. If you have any questions, please contact Chad Whelan (chad.whelan@deakin.edu.au).

In particular, it encourages submissions addressing new and emerging trends in cybercrime, as well as innovative work addressing strategies for preventing and disrupting cybercrime and reducing cybervictimization.

For these reasons, the organizing committee will prioritize completed research with a strong empirical foundation, as well as provocative and challenging contributions that offer novel perspectives on cybercrime.

All participants are required to submit both an abstract and a full paper. Accepted papers will be published either in a special issue of a criminology journal or in an edited volume.

By making sure that your activities are connected with the DC, you contribute to the visibility of the DC, as well as cybercrime research in general. We hope that we can count on your collaboration this year again!

Should you only plan to submit an individual paper abstract, we invite you to share its contents with us here (link below) so that we can organize thematic panels for you. We will get back to you shortly with the proposed panels to make sure that it is a good fit for you.

The DC is inviting you to use it to promote your panels by mentioning they are organized by the DC at the time of submission as shown below. You can also edit your past submissions.

The Joan Petersilia Outstanding Article Award is given for the peer-reviewed article published in the previous calendar year that makes the most outstanding contribution to research in the field of criminology.

The Michael J. Hindelang Outstanding Book is given for a book, originally published within three (3) calendar years preceding the year in which the award is made, that makes the most outstanding contribution to research in the field of criminology.

🚨February 1st🚨
The Ruth D. Peterson Fellowship for Racial and Ethnic Diversity fellowships are given to encourage students of color to enter the field of criminology/criminal justice, and to facilitate the completion of their degrees.

The three upcoming award deadlines are:

Manuscripts should be submitted through our system at www.jsomer.org. Please indicate in your cover letter that your manuscript is intended for the Special Issue on “Social Media and Artificial Intelligence in Education: Dynamics of Governance, Ethics, and Learning”.

All submissions will undergo double-blind peer review in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies.

The guest editors welcome a variety of high-quality submissions, including:
- Empirical research papers (quant, qual, mixed)
- Theoretical & conceptual articles
- Critical literature reviews
- Policy analyses & case studies
- Practice-based reflections & design-based research

This Special Issue seeks to critically examine the evolving relationship between education, social media, & AI, with a particular emphasis on 3 interconnected dimensions:
