Beware US corporations that have shifted their purchases to Vietnam, they’re now turning to Russia weapons and defying international sanctions.

During Melissa’s rapid intensification the storm drifted slowly over exceptionally warm ocean waters that were 1.4Β°C (2.5Β°F) warmer than average β€” these conditions were made up to 700 times more likely because of human-caused climate change. (via @climatecentral.org) 1/2

Melissa, now with sustained winds of 175 mph (280 km/hr) and capable of gusts to 260+ mph (425+ km/hr) on windward hilltops, 40" (1000 mm) of rain, and a 13 ft (4 m) storm surge, has started the feared turn to the northwest. First NW then north is the forecast. #Jamaica #HurricaneAlert

Laurence Tribe Sounds Alarm On How Trump Could Actually Serve Again Anyone discounting it is "thinking magically," warned the constitutional scholar.

It is not as cut and dried as you suggest. Laurence Tribe, who is as anti-Trump as they come and was the leading authority on U.S. constitutional law for decades (now retired), says Trump could run as vice president and then become president for a third term. www.huffpost.com/entry/lauren...

Hahaha. 🀣 In the 22nd Century, gum will be a precious commodity. The world will be held together with gum and duct tape.

But there will be nobody to chew it! Everyone will be just brains in glass jars, wired to the internet. Star Trek meets the Matrix meets Young Frankenstein. πŸ˜‚

immune for legislative acts. The drafters knew how to give someone immunity, they gave it to Congress, but they did not give it to the President. The Supreme Court made presidential immunity up. The result is that Trump probably cannot be prosecuted for ordering the military to murder people. 😑

person's "political reasons" is another person's "war crime." I don't know what the right answer is about the ICC.

But I definitely think the U.S. Supreme Court should not have given Presidents immunity from criminal law. Our Constitution doesn't say they're immune. And it says legislators ARE /2

A US President (Clinton) initially signed the treaty. But the Senate didn't ratify it as required for it to become binding under US law. Eventually a later President (G.W. Bush) withdrew from it. Bush's stated fear was that US citizens would be prosecuted for political reasons. Of course, one /1

Threat to US vaccines as CDC staff supporting key advisory panel laid off Critics say scientists β€˜held hostage’ by RFK Jr as changes mean vaccine development and guidance in peril

NEW: The entire staff supporting ACIP was laid off, and most working groups haven't met in months.

That means the US may not make routine vaccine recommendations for more than half of children in 2026, and it could halt new vaccines in the pipeline. My latest:

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

Trump’s orders unnerved many in the industry and appear to have discouraged some large firms from taking on cases they would otherwise have backed, lawyers say. That has dried up a formerly reliable supply of help from large law offices for people and institutions challenging government policies.

The American Bar Association, which joined or filed four lawsuits against the Trump administration, β€œhas experienced difficulty finding previously willing law firms to represent it,” its attorneys wrote in court papers. In one case, the organization said, it was unable to join a lawsuit challenging the administration because it could not get attorneys in time.

We have reached the point where the *American Bar Association* cannot find attorneys willing to represent them in litigation against the Trump administration.

Isn't it also murder in wartime? I'm not a military lawyer and could be missing something, but 10 U.S.C. section 918 (definition of murder, part of the Uniform Code of Military Justice) doesn't on its face exempt people serving in wartime.

Moderate Republicans need to remove Johnson as speaker. He can't be speaker without their votes. He is destroying the country they swore to serve and that they presumably like, even if they don't love it. Restore sanity!

Heaven help us. Harris inspires her voters, but there are not enough of them to elect her. She is not inspiring, and if anything is off-putting, to swing voters in the Midwest and Atlantic states. Newsom is too liberal and too disingenuous.

Ramen gum?? 🀣 I like ramen, but half the fun is slurping! 🍜 I like the idea, though. Now that you’ve invented the concept, I can imagine a whole product line of meat gums … ramen gum, pork gum, chicken gum. Even salmon gum? 🍣 πŸ˜‹ πŸ˜‚
