I just enjoyed finishing listening in bed this morning to Brian Lewis’ & Chris Jones’ podcast discussion here. How cities and ourselves come and go in walking, writing & remembering. ‘Writing the moment, then it’s gone’ without resolution. #poetrysheffield #writingsheffield

Informational graphic titled "What are Addison’s disease and adrenal insufficiency?"

Addison’s disease and adrenal insufficiency are rare endocrine conditions, which affect adrenal gland function and can be life-threatening.

Lifelong treatment with replacement steroid hormones is required and if untreated is fatal.

Medication is time-critical and taken several times daily.

Individuals must also know how to administer an emergency hydrocortisone injection to prevent
a potentially fatal adrenal crisis.

Includes a body diagram highlighting the adrenal glands, plus icons for an NHS steroid emergency card and emergency injection kit.

This should be the No.1 case study in privatisation. Private water companies pumped human waste in British waterways & ran off with all the money.

Worth snapping up if there’s only a few left: would also make a good present for anyone who likes walking/the outdoors (or just really good poetry).

Teaching it at Alevel resulted in me looking up Plautus (the name of the tortoise) in an idle moment & discovering that all TS’s characters corresponded to a Plautus comedy. And you can analyse the scenes in a Newtonian object-pushing way too. Loved that he couldn’t stop making these jokes.

I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.

Love this poem. An anthem. I often say to my partner that I’m trying really hard to hide my inner lizard at x or y thing/group & they say ‘I wouldn’t bother - we can all see it anyway.’ What to do with being Godzilla ?
