The NYtimes and its pundit class manufactured consent for the war in Iraq - later admitting to using corrupt informants - for the genocide in Gaza, and now for the war on Iran.

We have to see these people for who they are: mouthpieces for American imperialism.

I agree that newspapers should inform their readers about what their government is doing and why. As it happens, there is a mode of journalism that allows papers to do this beyond publishing opinion pieces in the government's defense. It is called "reporting."

This is a widely accepted norm journalists are taught to convince themselves they believe in, but it's not at all obvious why a publication should have to publish an op-ed merely because it represents the president's point of view. That's a media market and branding decision major papers have made.
