My main gripe with Tolkien since middle school has been that his books are so heavy on worldbuilding that they (with the exception of The Hobbit) sort of suck at telling a story. He gets there eventually, but he needs to describe a tree for two pages first.

When I did it I did one large bag per shoe. Mine were definitely not velvet, and I did have that thought as well. But I figured that I would share anyway! Worked great for me.
