Possibly worse when I was a living-in-LA tween. Showed up to an event she was speaking at with copies of every book she had written up to that point for her to sign. Had the first sentence of I Was a Teenage Fairy memorized.

Fritz Leiber and my grandfather were coworkers! They edited encyclopedias together right out of college. This is our family’s favorite story of his: www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/22579

So at this point the β€œcenter” means that people get hurt, that we're allowed to kidnap immigrants from their home, that we're allowed to throw trans people under the bus and deny them life-saving care. And that's not the center. That is fascist. That's capitulating. Compromise isn't getting your hand cut off and being grateful that they left you your pinky. Compromise means that each person gets something and maybe each person loses something, but you're actually making a difference.

Zohran looking out on a victory night crowd.

In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done.

My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.

I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.

Waiting for Zohran Mamdani to be announced as mayor, like a person dying of thirst waits for a glass of water. I love NYC so much and we deserve a mayor who will fight for working class and poor folks who are and have always been the backbone of this city and everything that has ever made it great.πŸ™

The thing about the Khalil case is that it's very very good that he's free now but you can't have it take three months between "the government kidnaps you off the street for no basis reason whatsoever" and "a judge makes them let you go." You just can't.

again, don't rank cuomo. just the shittiest, pettiest, laziest person.

The thing about Cuomo is that it doesn't even seem like he actually wants to be mayor of New York, y'know? He wants a job, he wants prestige, he wants a stepping stone, he wants power, he wants "redemption". But you don't get any sense that he has any actual interest in running the city.

In fifth grade I was on a trip with several other kids from my elementary school. In the airport after we landed a bunch of girls started screaming. Frankie Muniz was also at LAX, and they surrounded him entirely.

I, being from a cartoons and documentaries household, did not care.

If I was a New Yorker…

#1: Brad Lander
#2: Zohran Mamdani
#3: Zellnor Myrie
#4: Adrienne Adams
#5: Michael Blake

But most importantly, Andrew Cuomo would not be in my ballot. He shouldn’t be on yours either.
