Or alternatives? I taught triple science and btec science to different classes in the same year group. Some of the triples went on to A-level and uni, some of the btecs went on to level 3 qualifications. Anecdotally, there are more of the btecs still working in stem than the triples.

There has to be a conversation about what "value" actually is. The current system values a specific set of outcomes at the cost of everything else.

I said the same this morning. Not all qualifications are suitable for all learners. However, when outcomes drive performance measures schools are left to work the system. See KS2 sats.
