The Tigers acquired Kyle Finnegan for a couple of pitching prospects but didn’t have to give up any of their top 10 farmhands. Finnegan played HS baseball in Texas, but was born in Detroit.

PHI gave up its 4 & 5 prospects for Duran. In the Tigers system, those guys are Briceño and Liranzo. I suspect PIT would want one or both of them plus Clark or McGonigle in exchange for Bednar. I also suspect that’s too much for Harris.

The Tigers appear to have righted the ship, and not a moment too soon. I don’t believe they will make any major moves at the trade deadline. It’s not how they operate. Ilitch and Harris prefer to make inexpensive tweaks and I can see them adding a reliever without giving up too much

The Paper Tigers will lose 60 games before they win 70. If they don’t win another game before the trade deadline, they should sell, not buy.

A damn shame. That and Doctor Odyssey were my favorite guilty pleasures.

The Tigers are not a .600 team going through a slump. They’re a .500 team that played over its talent level for 2 and a half months and is regressing to its mean.

The Tigers finished last season winning 31 of their final 44 games. They overachieved to a 59-34 start this year. That’s a .657 winning percentage over 137 games. This weekend proved they aren’t really that good. I expect them to finish just short of 90 wins.

The Tigers need to use the trade deadline to overhaul their bullpen and maybe add another starter. Otherwise, I don’t see them winning 90 games.

The first two months of the season were fun, but the Tigers are coming back to earth fast. They need to replace two starting pitchers, half the bullpen, and add a big bat or 2 to make up for the suddenly anemic Carpenter and Meadows. Do they empty the farm at the trade deadline?

The Tigers have one reliable starter in Skubal. The rest of the rotation and the bullpen are a hot mess. Flaherty’s washed.

With Jobe out probably until 2027, the Tigers will have to acquire a solid number 2 or 3 starter at the trade deadline to stay in contention. Pitching chaos every other night won’t cut it this time, as demonstrated by tonight’s ugly bullpen collapse.

If the Tigers go looking for bullpen help at the trade deadline, my top target would be Aroldis Chapman.
