Blue Ventures, our technical team, together with the representatives of the Fishermen’s Associations of Fogo, took part in a leadership training session held on 10th and 11th dec.

The Associação Projecto Vitó team took part on Dec. 9th, and 10th in the International Conference on Environmental Education, held in Luanda, Angola, under the theme “Environmental and Climate Education and the Role of Public Institutions in Promoting the Integration of Sustainable Development.”

As part of the RESILAO project, and in partnership with the
FMB - Maio Biodiversity Foundation, 4 women from 3 fishing communities on the Brava island are benefiting from a learning exchange programme between women in the fishing and related sectors on the Maio and Brava islands.

Projecto Vitó & Guardians of the Sea from Fogo attended a workshop on Maio Island, part of PaMAR project. The event fostered collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and stronger marine conservation efforts across Cabo Verde

The Fogo Island Biosphere Reserve Interpretive Center proudly welcomed participants of the 4th Ocean Decade Conference!
Visitors explored the botanical garden, learned about endemic species, and discovered the island’s rich biodiversity.

During the IV Ocean Decade Conference on Fogo Island, Projecto Vitó proposed creating a Marine Protected Area between Fogo and Brava.
If approved, it will boost Cabo Verde’s protected waters from 0.4% to 1.4%, strengthening the nation’s commitment to biodiversity and sustainability.

Projecto Vitó, represented by Simony Rosa, took part in the II Forum for Reflection with Civil Society Organizations in Cabo Verde.

On Sept 16, we held the 2nd meeting with nesting beach monitors at Santa Catarina do Fogo. We discussed turtle captures, strategies for closing the 2025 season, and shared experiences.

Alicia Barbosa represented Projecto Vitó at the “Stronger CSOs for More Transparent Budgets” training, held on Aug 2–3 by Pro PALOP-TL ISC, EU & UNDP.

She gained key skills in social monitoring & budget transparency for better citizen participation. 👏

The bird was healthy, banded, and safely released.

On Aug 6, the 2nd Environmental Technical Roundtable took place on Fogo Island under the #DestinoFogo project. Led by #ProjectoVitó, key steps were taken for co-managing protected areas on Fogo & Brava — uniting conservation and sustainable development.
