While the government hasn't released a formal statement detailing the legal or technical reasons for the "No," the alignment with Washington is clear. Locally, however, this is being interpreted by many as part of a broader policy of social spending cuts.

Critics argue this vote doesn't happen in a vacuum. It coincides with growing concerns over the defunding of ANDIS (the National Agency for Disability), the state body responsible for coordinating disability policies and promoting social inclusion.

In Argentina, the move sparked immediate backlash. Provincial Health Minister Nicolás Kreplak criticized the vote, stating: "Argentina, once again against health... this confirms an international position that opposes profoundly human expressions."

The resolution is a political roadmap for international standards. It calls for concrete measures to improve infrastructure, community support, and the autonomy of people with disabilities worldwide. While not legally binding, it sets the global human rights agenda.

On December 17, the UN General Assembly voted on a resolution to guarantee rights, accessibility, and community support for independent living for persons with disabilities.

The result? ✅ 175 votes in favor ❌ 2 votes against (Argentina and the USA)
