It wasn't fake. It was edited. But Reagan really did spend a five-minute speech โ€“ an April 25, 1987, national radio address that the Reagan Library has published on YouTube โ€“ to rail against tariffs. It was a full-throated expression of support for free and fair trade.

When Trump announces federal aid to a state and in the same breath notes that the state voted for him, he's signaling that states must vote for him if they want federal aid.
It's not a presidency, it's a Mafia-style protection racket.

How the Proud Boys invented antifa The far-right gang has been fully absorbed by Trump's White House

When Trump or his goons talk about "antifa," they might as well be talking about demons or leprechauns.

But this fake threat shows how the Trump administration has fully absorbed real organized criminal gangs.

Yep, echoes of Nazi history in this.

Plenary authority, the dictator phrase that caused Stephen Miller to stop talking Miller suggests Trump wields absolute power over decisions to send in the National Guard, before suddenly stopping speaking in an awkward interview moment

Title 10, which gives the president limited authority to federalize the National Guard, does not provide the president with plenary (i.e. absolute and unchecked) authority.

Stephen Miller is claiming the powers of a tyrant. We must have oversight.

SCOTUS's Republican appointees let Trump ignore Congress, cut foreign aid Justice Kagan, dissenting for the Democratic appointees, noted the majority's "preliminary" order means $4 billion in aid allotted by Congress will be blocked "for all time.โ€œ

This morning's Portland post from Trump, finally, came less than 20 hours after the Supreme Court, yet again, gave Trump still more room to do what he pleases.

Telling a tyrant he can take lawless steps, unsurprisingly, will lead that tyrant to take more lawless steps.

It's smart, thoughtful, and sharply critical of Judge Menashi's contrary take:

Trump has done more to establish a unitary executive than all the judges or legal scholars in the world could ever do.

And Trump has done more to discredit and expose the unitary executive theory as lawless authoritarianism than any judge or legal scholar could ever do.

That Trump and Trumpism are fascist doesnโ€™t explain the sheer vandalism of unleashing mass murdering mayhem via RFK to replace medical/scientific institutions of immense value and prestige with medieval peasant superstitions. That is a criminal madness facilitated by but above and beyond fascism.

I apologize for swearing but--are you fucking kidding me???

The NYT thinks that judges refusing to give Trump's DOJ the benefit of the doubt is "eroding the healthy functioning of the courts."

For democracy to survive, judges need to be more skeptical and impose greater sanctions for DOJ's lies.
