‘When we’re dead & buried, the stars will still be there, & the tide will come in and go back out; we’re really hardly anything at all, are we?’ Laura said softly.”

I’m sure I’ve been guilty of this in the past & I know I meant well but whether it’s the loss of a loved one or a horrible diagnosis - words really do count.
Starting a consoling sentence with ‘Well at least…’ is never a good idea & if you don’t know what to say - just say that ❤️

Thanks Andy, some days (and some dates) are just harder to pass than others aren’t they whether it’s 11 months or 11 years it’s still so painful to be without our children xxxx

As of today, I can no longer say ‘I lost my daughter last year’ & if it’s not last year, it must seem like ages ago to other people who probably wonder why I'm still so bloody sad?
2025 is another year Laura doesn’t get to see & a step further away from her.
Grief is completely relentless isn’t it 💔

I'm on 43 now Ben - all our family donate regularly, it's the least we can do. I was so grateful for the blood Laura received, it made an instant difference when she was v unwell. If we expect it to be available for the people we love, we need to support the NHS blood banks
