Grateful to @theguardian.com for covering the most recent @naccomnetwork.bsky.social data briefing which charts the continued increase in homelessness experienced by refugees, people seeking asylum and other migrants, driven by hostile Government policies.

UK Government slammed for 'ignoring' migrants in child poverty plans A CHARITY has slammed the UK Government for β€œignoring” migrant children in its plan to tackle poverty.

"Ending the two-child limit is vital, but you cannot end child poverty while excluding children from support because of their parents' immigration status. Every child deserves the same chance to thrive." @josephinewy.bsky.social

Today's Child Poverty Strategy leaves thousands of migrant children - 40% of all children in poverty - out in the cold.

Every child deserves the same chance to thrive.

Poverty is a political choice. The Govt's failure to act for all children falls short of the scale and urgency of the crisis.

Refugee homelessness in UK has more than doubled in two years, charity says Naccom members accommodated record 4,434 refugees and migrants in 2024-25 but could not house another 3,450

The UK’s migration policies are backfiring - hurting both economic growth and efforts to end homelessness.

The OECD says cutting immigration is now β€œa drag” on the economy, while refugee homelessness has more than doubled in two years.

We urgently need policies that value people over politics.

Number of refugees allowed to settle in UK under UN schemes falls 26% in a year Refugee Council says Home Office figures show safe and legal pathways are β€˜disappearing when most needed’

Safe routes are disappearing when they're needed most. The only way to prevent people making dangerous journeys is to create safe routes.

If you're trying to get your head round Mahmood's idiotic "earned settlement" proposals that aim to keep refugees in limbo 20 years, & offer a sliding scale of crulety to all immigrants based on their pay packet, this is a great, clear explainer by @praxisprojects.bsky.social & @gmiau.bsky.social

28.11.2025 15:25 β€” πŸ‘ 141    πŸ” 53    πŸ’¬ 6    πŸ“Œ 2

The number of people migrating to the UK is down, again.
Lower migration is bad for our economy, especially our already struggling public services. The economy getting worse means politicians scapegoat and blame migrants and refugees even more. It’s a doom loop where we’re all worse off.

27.11.2025 12:08 β€” πŸ‘ 32    πŸ” 18    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Today’s budget simply doesn’t meet the scale of the challenges facing our country. You can’t build strong public services while proposing migration policies that drive out the people who deliver them. You can’t cut waiting lists without doctors, nurses, carers, & support staff who make the NHS run.

26.11.2025 14:55 β€” πŸ‘ 14    πŸ” 10    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The proposed settlement changes are really difficult to understand and very stressful if you or someone you know is a migrant. Read our explainer below so you can stay up to date with what's happening.

Here's why migrants being able to settle here matters to all of us:
βœ…it helps people feel like they belong
βœ…it means they can save for things like their children's education instead of paying thousands to the Home Office
βœ…it allows ppl to change jobs & so progress in careers or escape exploitation

UK to announce plans to emulate stringent Danish immigration system Shabana Mahmood’s proposals draw scorn from some Labour MPs, while others want government to go further

Adopting a Denmark-style immigration model is a dangerous new low from our Government. Pushing temporary status, harsher family reunion rules and β€œparallel society” labels throws basic rights under the bus in a bid to win cheap votes.
