We worked on Wardor St. round the corner from Gosh, and saw as a history of film, fashion, culture slowly got priced out of the place. Pathé, Hammer Horror, film house. Lots of history kinda being forgotten for quick rent hikes.

Prince Charles cinema is such a staple of Soho. Hate what is happening with the greed from property owners across the board.

It just ends up eroding everything. Communities, culture, compassion.

London trades on its culture and history and the profiteers want to run it like a theme park. Leicester Square is becoming a glorified food hall for the casino. The city still has it's bulwarks like the Barbican and the V&A, but the smaller, more intimate social places for creatives are gone.

It’s devastating isn’t it?
I spent my life going to Soho & China Town. Dinners with my family. The PCC with mates (saw Akira there!). Clubbing at Madame JoJos. Pints at the Toucan. Comics from Gosh…
I can’t bear London without these institutions. Genuinely heartbreaking.

London & the West End isn’t riddled with crime as Right Wing / MAGAAA nutters would have you believe.
The actual crime is ruthless, greedy landlords tearing it’s heart out.

A major comic convention booking a known anti-Palestine pro-Isreal ‘creator’ as a guest feels very 2025.
I cannot stress how important it is to know who you are linking your event to & do your research.

Absolutely. It’s a vastly understated aspect but the main work in any creative endeavour.
Certainly far from understood by tech bruhs. It’s all about ease for them.

AI will be classed as creative capable when it too has to do a secondary task - washing up/ walk the dog/ take out bins - to solve a storyline plot holes

Making comics as a cartoonist is closer to puzzle solving
The final task- drawing art - is 10-20% of the work
Working it out IS the creativity

When making a comic for example, you find yourself in deep water a lot. That scene you had an idea for? You don't really know how to block it out, how to make it come to life. So you research, you think, you work. AI bros think just having the idea is the thing. It's barely the entry point.

So long studio. 8 years, 1 graphic novel published & 1 in progress, several comics & a fistful of zines plus artwork for a feature film were scratched & exorcised out in this room. It’s been emotional packing it up but we’re relocating & a new studio beckons. Back to it in September.

Boundless is going under, it’ll cease trading by end of day. Archna has emailed Neem Tree Press authors about this but not Unbound ones :/

Authors, a couple staff members are working hard to get reversions, subcontracts, and files to us—if you need them email NOW before the lights go off

Not sure what is worse: the fact the "service" exists, that Disney and others are going to license IP on it, or that there are plenty of suckers ready and willing to pay for #AISlop.

P.T. Barnum nailed it. There IS a sucker born every minute.
