Australia:
“Heat stress builds up progressively over years, weakening ecosystems and leaving them more vulnerable to fire, drought, pests and disease. A ecosystem which may seem OK can be hit by this “ecological debt” months or years later.”
It’s happening globally.

But f there's a commuter carpark open 24/7 it'll be used.

I often drive to the final commuter station (Campbelltown) south of Sydney, park, and catch the train in. Always 1 hour by train, as long as a piece of string by car.

And cheaper than petrol.

Ironic how most of the most hardline "law and order" types are the same ones who want New Zealand and the USA to ignore international laws

It appears that their real preference is not law & order, but to be judge, jury and executioner based on personal reckons & whims

Albanese government rejected advice on Tasmanian salmon farming impact before passing pro-industry laws FoI documents show ministers ignored recommendation for fresh inquiry that could have reduced or paused farming

At this point, the Environment Department (and new EPA) exists to make recommendations that can be overruled as a political signal to industry.

One of the first acts of the Luxon Govt was to end the Gas Transition Plan, designed to reduce dependence on fossil gas. Luxon’s next step was to plan an LNG import terminal. I said it was stupid at the time and as LNG prices rise it looks even more so

Khamenei was Ready to be a Martyr. Israel and the United States Walked Right into that Trap. Israel and the US patted themselves on the back for taking out the Ayatollah, but they totally misunderstood his plan.

Now Trump is nearly begging for the Iranians to return to the negotiating table. But that ship has sailed. Only a fool would ever trust the US or Israel again.

Maybe Australia needs a "Not Difficult" Party lead by women.

Solutions for:
Violence against women and children - Not difficult.
Climate change - Not difficult.
First Nations deaths in custody - Not difficult
Wage parity - Not difficult
Homelessness - Not difficult.
Patriarchy - Not difficult

Albanese can run but not hide from Carney's message about the threat from the US Mark Carney arrives in Australia today. He has to live in a world where the threat posed by the US is obvious. It's a threat Anthony Albanese refuses to see.

By any objective assessment the US is deeply damaging to Australia. But our government refuses to see reality, writes Bernard Keane. www.crikey.com.au/2026/03/03/m...

The Atlas Network has form: it is credited with influencing the election of autocraticand ultra-conservative leaders in Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands and, recently, New Zealand. Will Australia be next?

This may seem disconnected from matters of church and state, but, as oneAmerican professor of religion says, we need to recognize that Christian dominionism is just “part of the tool kit of political radicalism.”

Here’s a scary read linking Atlas, Christian dominionism (related to Christian nationalism) and conservative politics.
Now more safeguards have been removed, more journalists should be investigating the potential influence of Atlas on New Zealand’s 2026 election.

What decades of research reveal about involuntary substance use treatment – and why evidence points elsewhere Many cities are considering involuntary substance use treatment as a solution to drug use among the homeless. But research doesn’t support this strategy.

“Involuntary treatment for adults with substance use disorders is necessary in extreme cases, but... raises serious concerns about patient safety”, like higher risk of relapse, rearrest and even death after release from treatment, explains a clinical psychologist.
