Accidentally misgendering Hussie by calling them a man was an actual issue of transphobia, and Gio owned up to that, but treating it as an issue of transmisogyny feels so dismissive of those who deal with transmisogyny in a way that makes me feel gross.

I didn't know the specifics of their relationship with gender, but it's good to get better context of that, thank you!

It's so strange and feels so disingenuous and dismissive of actual transmisogyny to accuse Gio of that when Hussie doesn't identify as or present as transfem.

People please get an understanding of transphobia that isn't from decade old tumblr posts I am begging you.

Writing a piece of fiction exploring nonbinary gender identity through a transfem character does not inherently make someone transfem or subject to transmisogyny.

Like, I'm nonbinary and masc presenting. I want to get bottom surgery, but if someone claimed I face transmisogyny, they'd be wrong.

Also the accusations of transmisogyny are insane.
Hussie may be nonbinary and use any pronouns, but everyone, including business partners and close personal friends of theirs, still refers to them with he/him pronouns and socially treats them as masculine presenting.

Okay after checking more, every person I see defending Hussie is like... 20 years old. 25 at most.
People who were under 10 years old, some of whom weren't even in kindergarten yet, should not be acting like they know Hussie is a good person lol

Do not fall for it. Hussie has shown you the type of person he is over and over again through their own words and actions. You are not defending some poor little meow meow. You are defending someone proven to continuously prioritize using money to legally threaten those who don’t fall in line

A lot of the context around Homestuck is lost because of the deletion of the MSPA Forums and decades-old fandom drama, but Hussie was always a big piece of shit.

It's just now they're a big piece of shit with money and lawyers.

They got backlash and it took them forever to change the panel to "Peachy", while keeping the same lead up and framing around the joke at a fandom creator's expense.

And then there are the racist caricatures, the google translate Japanese, directly mocking fans in the comic...

A lot of it is lost now, but a lot of the worst aspects of Homestuck were a direct result of Hussie throwing hissie fits.

The infamous "Caucasian" trickster panel was because a fan drew a character as black, got harassed, and Hussie decided to turn it into a joke about the character being white.

Boggles my mind that there are people who are still ride or die for Hussie. I was in the fandom from 2010 to when Homestuck 2 went on indefinite hiatus the first time.

Throughout that entire time the general consensus was Hussie was a giant asshole who made something bigger than themself.

Highly recommend folks interested in what’s been going on with Homestuck in 2025 give this a read. You can read the chat logs yourself and see the story of one person consistently trying to be cordial, professional, and respectful as they’re repeatedly legally threatened, deadnamed, manipulated, etc
