The irony is, they complain about Charlie being too pushy ect. and I’m like YOU are writing her like that. NOT the official show! Shy get upset at the canon for your own misinterpretations and headcanons? O.o

I think that’s perfectly A-Okay if you want to play around with it. But it’s not okay if that’s your canon view of her and get mad at creators for your misinterpretation. So many people complain about Charlie being this or that but their complaints remind me more of certain fanfics than the canon

It’s great to read all kinds of characterizations and developments in fanfic but sometimes it is hard to tell if people consider their OoC characterizations as real or not…

Yes, Charlie is shown to make mistakes but she learned from them. In some fanfics she barely has any character development and if there is, it only happens after Vaggi and her are threatened by multiple characters

I love and adore fanfiction but sometimes I wonder if people write Charlie like an ignorant spoiled brat, trampling on people’s boundaries and feelings because they need a villain for plot convenience or because they watch the show and truly see her that way.

It’s always astonishing how much energy people put onto complaining about fictional characters while turning into real life bullies and villains 🥲

The same people would complain about Val being one dimensional if he didn’t have the nuance he does. Some people simply shouldn’t be allowed on the internet because they can’t moderate their own consumption habits

Yes… Velvette is the one creating, marketing and selling the daye rape drug. Not sure how that makes her and Vox better. Vox supports and manages the sexual slavery too. He’s the one luring people in. Just because he makes the other two do the “hands on dirty work” doesn’t make him less evil

The serial killer, manipulater, enabler, sexual harasser and abuser along with the abuser who’s also creating a rape drug are better? It’s fine to like villains but they’re not really better or worse from one another

Vox is also an enabler. They’re all toxic people but together they just raise each other to new levels

There is no perfect/ right/ wrong to write characters because everyone has different experiences. What may seem perfect to one person may be completely unrepeatable to others. This is true for pretty much any portrayal, not just abuse

What does that even mean? Is that a new trendy phrase?

One should always be careful when using such subjective terms to describe hopes/expectations that border on criticism

“realistic” implies there is an unrealistic/wrong depiction but relationships come in all forms, so there is no wrong or realistic portrayal. A realistic dipiction is extremely subjective and your view of that may not resonate with others with different experiences

When you just sit there and wonder what hurts more, shooting yourself or going through the hell of cramps each month and the rage of the monthly occurrence makes it tempting to tear everything and everyone apart but you’re too weak and in pain to move 🥲

All sorts of stories are valid. While I don’t tend to seek out romanticizing stories (I love drama/hurt/comfort) I intend to write a redemption story for a villain/abuser in the future solely because I like the idea of playing with that unrealistic healing option

I can already see people being upset because it doesn’t meet their preferred outcome. Whoever is upset can write their own ace characters to their liking rather than blaming other shows for bad writing just because they portray something different

Good critique always includes either pros and cons or at least cons with suggestions on how to improve. Anything else is not critique but solely pointing out negatives/nitpicking/complaining/hating

It’s sad how people from a hatedom can so easily disguise themselves as “analyzing fans” because it’s become so common to associate smart people with analyzing and that with criticism and that with pointing negative things out.

Or people just loose interest and try to nitpick everything and complain about things being illogical despite scenes practically spelling the explanations out loud. When someone loses interest that’s fine. Just leave fandom spaces instead of bringing the mood down trying to turn them into hatedom
