Yes it’s Valentine’s Day. But it’s also the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass who was born in 1818 on a plantation in Talbot County, Maryland. He escaped from slavery & rose to become the most eloquent and forceful voice for the abolition of slavery & for Black voting rights in the U.S.

I wish it were enforceable to sentence them to federal minimum wage with no possibility of assistance.

3yo is into Jonah right now, and kept asking for sackcloth, because that’s the part of the story that he is fixated on (despite being generally a sea creatures kid recently). My mom heard him and sewed a burlap sack for him into a little garment while we were over there for supper last night.

Christmas/New Year movie! This felt lived in and real, and the performances were all great. Special appreciation for Carrie Ng and Danny Lee. Chow Yun-Fat is caught under a pile of demands from opposing forces and you can see that all the time, even under smiles.
