I'm glad you're looking into this (I am, too!). I think I've found a path (with four possibly eligible great grandparents, I'm hoping for at least one good one!). I've been reading a lot about the 1947 "no longer a British subject" thing, but advice says that could work in my favor. We'll see!

The important thing to note, though, is that your ancestor has to have retained, and not renounced, their Canadian ancestry (as many of them did when immigrating to the US). If one of them broke the chain, unfortunately it seems like a non-starter.

Yup, and its "research mission" (the research LoC librarians and research fellows *do*) is in support of Congress. Doesn't mean they don't help other researchers doing other research of their own, but that's not its research mission. Librarians *do* research in the area of their research mission.

The library is *supposed* to be a circus. Librarians aren’t gatekeepers of knowledge, they’re compelled to get it to EVERYONE who wants it. LOC’s research mission is limited to Congress, by design. Dr. Hayden is a national treasure.

Yup, changing day by day -- as of the latest poll I saw CONs were one seat short of being able to form a full government alone. Maybe the tariffs will take that farther out of reach. Maybe not. I am no longer willing to predict anything about anything.
