Your role
You will develop experiments using new #hologram designs and 3D printed acoustic lenses. You will work in a multidisciplinary team and learn about medical physics, #3Dprinting, physical modeling, rapid prototyping with state-of-the-art equipment.

We have already tested this technology based on successfully in small animals, and our goal is to apply it in humans for aim is to apply it in humans for the focal treatment of diseases such as #Alzheimer or #Parkinson.

The idea
Can an #ultrasound wave produce a therapeutic effect on the brain? Can an acoustic hologram focus an acoustic beam on a specific area of the brain? With physical technologies, we can do therapy (and imaging) on the brain.

Lithovortex ha sido generado por el I3M, junto con el Grupo NITIUV del Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria La Fe (IIS La Fe) de València y el Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia (IBV), y se trata de un dispositivo portátil y de bajo coste que es capaz de destruir las piedras de forma no invasiva. Esto es posible gracias a la aplicación de ultrasonidos, ya que transmite las ondas desde el exterior para focalizarlas en el interior del organismo, sobre el cálculo.
Además, las dimensiones y la portabilidad de este dispositivo permitirían convertir el tratamiento de los cálculos renales en un procedimiento de consulta externa sin necesidad de un equipamiento accesorio de grandes dimensiones, como sucede actualmente.
Un equipo del Instituto de Instrumentación para Imagen Molecular (I3M, @csic.es - @upv.es) ha desarrollado un dispositivo que reduce a la mitad el tiempo para deshacer las piedras del riñón. @europapress.es @efe.com @agenciasinc.es
