While I've not taken apart every pistol replica I have, I don't believe I've seen this before in any of mine, buy it's an interesting little tweak. 😅

Necessity is the mother of invention! And not wanting to ruin something I just bought is the...I dunno, cousin? I've found dental tools can be handy when working with someone airsoft internals as well. 😊

I've swapped the outer barrel on the SMP to a threaded aluminum one. The process was very quick and mostly painless.

I did, however, encounter something I don't often see...a teeny little spring connecting the outer barrel to the hop. Not too difficult to undo and redo. I used a bent staple.

I have a want.

I've had several distractions this week but I am gonna finish this comparison, demmit.

I have to admit, the distortion on the ejection port of the P365 is completely my fault. It got a bit of acetone on it at one point and melted it a bit. It doesn't affect performance, just adds some character. 😅

The SMP has an aluminum slide, a removable optics plate, with a RMSc footprint for a micro dot sight underneath. Front and rear irons are removable.

The P365 has a metal slide, does not have any optics mounting. Front and rear irons are removable. #Airsoft

My winter coats are very puffy and oversized. I told my roomie I was doing to go online to order some "oversized hangers" and she told me I "already have a couple of those".

She thought it was hilarious, and I was just confused.

The Sten is AGM. I don't believe I've ever gotten any replicas by them. Ares has been doing some really cool stuff lately!

Oh no!!! I was unaware of the Groza... I've been looking at these 2. Fortunately they're not very pricey...

Note; there is an externally threaded replacement aluminum barrel available for the SMP, in the $40 range - I don't believe it would be compatible with the P365 but I'll know in about a week.

Both are likely to come with an orange tip attached.

If the orange tip were to fall off by total accident, what would be underneath?

The SMP (left) has an internal barrel shroud, but no threading, just the gap between outer and inner barrel.

The P365 (right) is actually internally threaded.

Both replicas have nearly the same profile. They're slightly larger than some ultra compacts like the Bodyguard (2nd picture).

Unlike the Bodyguard, which has a fixed slide, both the P365 & SMP are blowback.

I think it'd be fair to say the P365 would be 'partial blowback'. More on that later.
