"If we consider books as medicine we understand that it’s good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the 'medicine closet' and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment” - Umberto Eco

Not heard this before. Since following people on here, I’ve realised I’m on the wrong part of Dunning-Kruger when it comes to music. But John Peel kept finding “new” stuff into his 60s so…
Anyway, would Le Butcherettes be fans of PJ Harvey?
Sorry, 9 days left according to submissions website. So no reason to not make a submission

Funny. I laughed. It does look like karma. And Trump will use *anything* including images taken out of context to advance his agenda. So, fair-play I guess.
But…
…isn’t there enough material to use without resorting to decontextualised images (e.g. his stunned mullet reaction to collapsing man)?
Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present Karma?

I felt like I’d gone ten rounds with Jake Heke. It made the careers of Cliff Curtis, Tem Morrison and Rena Owen as well as Tamahori.

Vows by Kimbra
Sorry Richard, I always forget the 5 🤦🏻♂️
IKEA product: a framed map of the world with something missing in the bottom right hand corner. New Zealand!
Oh, and she’s a Kiwi
🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
I’m actually an immigrant and I agree that “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.”
But when maps often literally leave New Zealand off the edge, and other countries are so quick to claim NZers, I want to proudly shout these great artists’ names from the rooftops
Front cover of the album Vows by Kimbra from 2011 (NZ).
A still from the video for Gotye’s song Somebody That I Used To Know featuring Kimbra. The singers are unclothed but their torsos are painted so as to be camouflaged against the wall behind them which is painted with multicoloured geometric shapes. Gotye faces us and his face is also painted. Kimbra has her back to us. Her face, in profile, is not painted, making a dramatic contrast

Kimbra has a voice to die for. She’s a lot more than “just” the featured singer on Somebody That I Used to Know by Gotye.
Vows was released in 2011. The later, US version (2012) has a version of Nina Simone’s Plain Gold Ring which starts a capella.
Was the “war speed…warp speed” part deliberate or a Freudian slip?

Bluesky algorithm or coincidence?
Who likes to keep life interesting by checking out new sounds, even as the days of your life count down faster, and risk having to hear a lot of shit ?
And who likes to listen to nothing but classics, thus risking becoming “that” old person but at least finding comfort in every tune?
#JohnPeel ?
The opening credits for #ItWelcomeToDerry are absolute perfection.
