Text reads: Reflections on the mortality of the would-be Titans of the world after Dorothy Parker They wonβt live for ever. The bell tolls for them, too. Theyβll fall prey to infection. A tumour. The flu. A rampant addiction to cocaine or ket. Tertiary syphilis. A bite from a pet. Food thatβs lodged in their throat, and a Heimlich manoeuvre no-one bothers to offer. Sex games with a Hoover. Asthma. Assassins. An army of ants. A bee sting. An avalanche, ski-ing in France. A fall from a building. A weakened aorta. An overdue drowning in phlegm, or deep water. A venomous snake. A bomb in a box. A swim in a creek packed with saltwater crocs. A bullet. A blowout. The end of a rope.β¨Something will get them. Remember, thereβs hope. Β© Steve Pottinger 17 Feb 2025

There were protesters at the same location in Tbilisi back in September.
Tourism is increasingly important there and embracing their European neighbours a necessity. I very much doubt that the Georgian people will accept the delay quietly.

The Hobbit was my first Tolkien read when I was about 7 years old, started LOTR around a year later. I didnβt go for The Silmarillion until my teens along with Farmer Giles of Ham.
