Read this thread. This is what @katmabu.bsky.social was protesting, and why she repeatedly says getting beaten up by ICE outside is nothing compared to the torture and crimes being committed inside Broadview. These thugs must be held to account.

The many monarchs of Europe, the slaver's Confederacy, the Kaiser, the Nazis, the Italian fascists, Imperial Japan and many more all assumed that because liberals value peace and human life, that they were weak and feckless and easily beaten.
Go look for them now.

'Pure Chaos': Warnings of an Alberta Health-Care Crisis
Experts say AHS data obtained by The Tyee further indicate the system faces being overwhelmed.
"It is pure chaos."
"Alberta's health-care system is now so dysfunctional and chaotic that it will be unable to handle the inevitable surge of sick patients from the annual flu, respiratory infection and COVID season over the next few months."

My appetite for rehabilitation is inversely related to their socioeconomic privilege.
A poor kid from a from a messed up home does some drug dealing or theft? Sure, lots of room for rehabilitation.
A rich business owner or lawyer ignores the law for financial gain? Make a fuckinโ example of them.

Opinion: Voters backed infill housing: Now let's build it near transit
The infill election is over. The mandate is clear: it's time to build.
Edmonton's infill election is over, and Edmontonians overwhelmingly voted for a pro-infill council. The predicted backlash never came.
Now, it's time to build. And what better place to start than near our LRT stations.

Man, just *thinking* about that big dumb game makes me smile. Iโm sure the barrier to entry is an issue, but that magic of getting that game 15 years ago and feeling like there was a game made just for me is worth a lot of DLC.

โI love Hitlerโ: Leaked messages expose Young Republicansโ racist chat
Thousands of private messages reveal young GOP leaders joking about gas chambers, slavery and rape.
"They referred to Black people as monkeys and 'the watermelon people' and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery."

I still remember him doing an interview on the radio a few years ago where he argued that Alberta would have an easier time getting pipelines built through BC if Alberta was an independent country.
Whatever his former credibility as an economist, heโs traded it all for partisan influence.

I mean, the Liberals under Trudeau did put up a bunch of funding for transit projects. Not enough, certainly, but not nothing.
But also, even without mode switching, people have options that reduce their transport emissions. But they wanted bigger trucks instead.
Donโt blame that on the government.

Super bad for the economy and peopleโs livelihoods, but I think itโd be worthwhile to turn more Canadians against him and to fully politically isolate the minority of Canadians who support Trump. I want all conservative politicians to be electorally forced to repudiate MAGA and what they stand for.

If this doesnโt result in a deal, I honestly think it would be to Carneyโs (and Canadaโs) benefit to subtly try and provoke the kind of attacks from his administration that we were seeing in the spring.

A timely opinion piece. Edmonton's winters have been hell for the unhoused for several years now, and as temperatures drop all of that's about to come right backโfrostbites, risky encampments in the woods, people piled into transit centres and buses for warmth, all of it.

Or, you know, the Carney government could just do the right thing and fix the system itself and toughen the process so it can't be politicized.
Honestly, we're a stone's throw away from listing ANTIFA as a terrorist entity if the US asks.
I'm sure it's fine.
