It’s worth remembering that historically, medieval knights had a much/most of their social standing tied up in being fit and capable of inflicting violence. Training and practicing fighting in armour meant they were real good at it. Like very toxic gym bros crossed with private military contractors.

On that topic, YouTube fed me this video last year, and it’s one of the few times you see a fight from the perspective of lightly armoured guys fighting and losing against someone in armour.
It would have been terrifying, even for seasoned soldiers of the era.

Brexit was a stupid fringe obsession for years, but they had an easy narrative of “EU’s at fault for everything bad, leaving will fix all”
It’s a bit closer than that in a couple ways.
The EU is more than just a trade deal: it’s a huge amount of regulatory integration on hundreds of different things that go along with being part of the common market. It was kinda halfway to being part of a single federated country.
“Worrying” may not be helpful before we see how many signatures they get (and I pray that they fail).
But I’m pretty alarmed at the explosion of separatist content on Facebook. Their cocktail of resentment towards Ottawa and promises of a utopian independent Alberta risks gaining converts.

Additionally, PEPFAR seems to have been a genuinely good program that saved or changed the lives of millions of people, probably to little electoral benefit.
