But will AI be able to learn the underlying physics beyond replicating the past?

As climate change progresses, the future will increasingly look very different from the past and how well will AI cope with that?

I‘m curious and open but I think it‘s too early to come to a conclusion.

Traditional weather forecast models are based on physical equations and run for hours on large supercomputers, which means, here, AI can actually SAVE energy contrary to popular belief.

Hurricane forecasting is a special category but here as well as generally in weather forecasting, I don’t think we are at a point where we could drop one or the other. AI has important applications in meteorology for sure but I think it’s still unclear if everything can be replaced by AI.

As the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season ends, the future of forecasting is AI Meteorologists are surprised that the weather model that did the best job forecasting hurricanes this year was a new one, introduced by Google. AI may be the beginning of a new era of forecasting.

The Sentinel-1 mission – which provides radar vision for the Copernicus Earth observation programme – has a new addition to its family of satellites, with the arrival in orbit of Sentinel-1D, the last of the groundbreaking first generation. The launch took place at 22:02 CET (18:02 local time), on Tuesday, 4 November, on board an Ariane 6 launcher from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana.

Kein Wunder dass man sich nicht einigen kann auf Winter- oder Sommerzeit wenn die EU einfach zu groß ist für eine einzige Zeitzone. Vielleicht sollte man das mal akzeptieren und ändern.
