In this time of conflict and upheaval, it is good to sing, compose, design, sew, dance, paint, and write.

Friends in America: please keep on resisting! I know you are already exhausted, so take time to recharge yourselves. Then keep resisting.

One more work-week until the move into our new flat in Berlin. We are simultaneously exhausted and excited.

We are in the process of moving into a new (cozy) flat, and all my sewing projects are boxed up. I look forward to unpacking my sewing station and making new curtains.

Sweetie and I uncorked a bottle of Moët et Chandon last night to toast our 16th anniversary. We are still so dedicated to each other and practice loving each other every day.

This is the new evening gown I finished sewing for myself last week. Still needs to be steamed, but I am satisfied that it fits.

I finished proofreading an opera by one composer this year, and I am about halfway done proofreading an opera by another composer. Neither composer is a white man.

I really enjoy meeting the people in our broadcast district who tune in to hear us sing. This annual choral tour to sing for them live in their villages is a fantastic way to make human connections.

This weekend, our radio choir is bussing out to the smaller towns of our broadcast district to sing open-air a cappella programs for our listeners who live far away from major concert venues. It is one of my highlights of the season!

That’s the truth! (Unless you‘re an Estonian amateur with major connections and an aggressive publisist.) A friend of mine, Paul Gibson, writes fantastic music, and has to pay to hear it performed; ideally, he should be paid fairly for his music.

Yesterday, we ordered our new kitchen - in tomato red! - in preparation for our new flat.

Sometimes I am so emotionally moved by music that I don’t know what to do but stop everything else and just listen and weep.

The choir I sing with (MDR Radio Choir) is preparing to tour the smaller villages in our broadcast area, bringing live music to communities that live far from traditional concert venues. This is both our mandate as publicly funded artists, and a great personal joy for me.

The German government thinks that our economy can only be strong if we sell cars. It is an industry of the past! How about turning those VW factories into photo-voltaic factories?

Berlin CSD (Pride) was a big success. I am happy that Sweetie and I could demonstrate this year.

I flew to London just to hear a live concert of music written by black women. - because I will never get the chance to hear something like that in Germany.
