“Just obey and you won’t get hurt” is what you tell hostages, not free people.

Perhaps some of the younger and less well-educated think about fascism like they think about measles or polio: "how bad can it be"?

Sadly, as they FAFO, the consequences fall on all of us.

I have never felt the precious, fragile nature of our democracy more than I did last night as I cast my ballot. Let us never take it for granted. lt is amazing, equalizing, historically rare, and there are so many worse ways to be governed. Let us always cherish it, nurture it, and fight for it.

If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

For reference, the cost to raise every citizen of the USA above the poverty line is $168B.

We don't even have to tax the 1% to end poverty. Just make them pay what they already owe.

Except that one guy who'll say it was all a hoax. Hopefully they'll throw him out of the cave.

In the future, when the last few humans are huddled in a cave in Antarctica trying not to boil to death, they'll look back at a time when the planet was clearly on fire and one orange guy was still saying, "drill, baby, drill" and they'll say, well yeah, that was stupid.
