The check didn't arrive today, so I went out to the back yard and picked up some branches that fell over the winter. Zero guilt. Thirty minutes well spent. #FreelanceLife

Was going to write an article this afternoon (due Monday) for a fill-in client. But it's nice out. And it's Friday. Said client owes me for a two articles that ran last month. If they can wait to pay me, I can wait to write their article. (Posting this means that check will arrive today.)

We had one of those super one heavy ones - felt like cast iron, but not rusty. The lower case 'o' always got stuck. But those really old typewriters are so cool. #FreelanceFriends

I once did a resume for my sister's friend who listed Project Manager. I asked her what she did. She said "Manage projects." She had the WORST resume I've ever seen, yet didn't like the one I created for her because it wasn't "impressive" enough. #FreelanceFriends

I had to mail copy to editors (or drop it off in person to local publications). Then I mailed floppy diskettes. Filing copy got so much easier once people had email addresses. But even then most research was still done at the library. #FreelanceFriends

You've got to remember I've been freelancing since before most businesses even had internet access. We didn't have productivity tools or apps yet we managed just fine. #FreelanceFriends

My work rarely has that kind of urgency. And most of my clients (and the sources I deal with) respond fairly quickly. If there were a true time crunch I'd call them. And I can't recall the last time I've had to resort to a phone call. #FreelanceFriends
