I fearlessly and relentlessly discuss and advocate for acknowledgment of CSA. I will continue to do that unapologetically. Currently, I do not have the bandwidth to learn a new coded language about my lived experiences.

Nor do I, which is why that is not the conclusion that I made throughout my thread.

For surviving, we have been conditioned to think that our very existence requires a trigger warning. That our very existence is vulgar and offensive. That the truth of me is too painful to burden others with. No more. Not here in this space. The tip toeing around reality is how we are here

I have watered down my experiences an existence for a lifetime to make others comfortable. I will not continue to do that. Society as a whole has failed to allow this evil to prevail. Thus, I do not owe society any right to comfort by existing.

I have waited my entire life (that I’ve barely made it through) for this societal evil to even be named and acknowledged on a mass scale. For that reason, I am going to continue to discuss the current moment as I have earned through my survival, without critiquing what I am sharing.

It takes a lifetime of bravery, processing and healing just to sometimes name our harm. Naming harm, especially when discussing CSA is a primary barrier to seeking help for victims. I would be incredibly cautious about muzzling survivors or tone policing survivors for wider comfort.

Not an alternative view point, but an additional consideration from a survivor - I think we have to be very careful about enforcing coded language of real traumas that society already refuses to acknowledge and discuss. Survivors should not feel ashamed for existing in their truth.

I just had to stop a session 20 minutes in and walk the client back to class because the urge to get sick hit me so suddenly and painfully and the kid looked so sad - I feel AWFUL someone talk me off the ledge 😭
