This is right. I wish peace and freedom for both our people and Iran's, but it's impossible to know what the future holds. Trump has launched a war and may have forgotten that the opponent also has agency...and that the Middle East is a politically, culturally and religiously complex region.

If Sen. McCormack is concerned about DHS funding, he could ask Sec Noem to drop plans for a new luxury jet fleet as a sign of her respect for American and their security needs.

Deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of these service members.

May their memories be a blessing.

I'd also like to know what their plan is for Venezuela. Why are deploying our military this way, and what danger do we risk in overextending our forces and heightening terrorist threats?

Graham's entire statement is ludicrous. Why on earth would we attack another nation to effect an outcome we have no plan to achieve? He's basically saying we have no realistic goal or definition of success. And he thinks it's right to kill civilians and risk American lives so carelessly?

All of what the general writes is important, but, at this moment, I'm especially concerned about the second paragraph. We've seen how whimsically and pointlessly Trump applies tariffs. Imagine that approach being applied to a military operation. The consequences could be catastrophic.

JUSTICE GORSUCH: You're saying there's inherent authority in foreign affairs, all foreign affairs, so regulate commerce, duties and -- and -- and -- and tariffs and war. It's inherent authority all the way down, you say. Fine. Congress decides tomorrow, well, we're

going to hand it all off to the President. What would stop Congress from doing that?
GENERAL SAUER: That would be different than a situation where there are metes and bounds, so to speak. It would be a wholesale abdication.

SAUER: Well, we don't contend that.

What if Congress decides it's "tired of this legislating business"?
That'd be a "wholesale abdication," Sauer ntoes

β€˜ICE will comply’: Top Minnesota judge threatens criminal contempt for continued defiance Chief Judge Patrick Schiltz wrote that Justice officials were continuing to violate court orders at a historic clip amid President Donald Trump’s mass deportation push.

"The Court is not aware of another occasion in the history of the United States in which a federal court has had to threaten contempt β€” again and again and again β€” to force the United States government to comply with court orders."

Last time I looked, the WH employed quite a few lawyers. Did it not occur to him to ask one of them about this? How is it possible that our president knows so little about our three branches of govt, especially when he's in his SECOND TERM in office?

But this isn't a conflict to enter into lightly or without support from our allies (if they're still speaking to us). The Trump administration hasn't demonstrated anywhere near the level of thoughtfulness, discipline, diplomatic skill, consistency or commitment to lawful action this would require.
