My daughter is an adult so I’m way more active now than I used to be.

When I retired I said I was done. I gave 20 years and thought I deserved to be left alone to enjoy the rest of my life.

But in reality THIS is the final test. Having lived through the aftermath of the George Floyd murder here in Minneapolis in 2020, I know community means everything.

Ironically I joined the military to escape Philly and I thought I could help make change from within. But what I found out qucikly was the best you could hope for within that monstrosity of bureaucracy is the tinyest of wins that you never feel you can celebrate.

As a Philly kid who grew up with a mob boss mayor (Rizzo) and a police force that dropped a bomb on my aunt's house, I've never trusted the state.

My Mom was 48 when she died and every year when I got closer to that age I was stressed. Now I’m seven years past and that makes things even more distant.

I think about that a lot in regards to my Mom. The amount of time she’s been gone is longer now than the amount of years she was in my life.
