...in comparison to the rest of the cast, who have all likely been introduced in a similar way. The next best thing is when they then subvert the viewers expectations based on the information that they've been fed. That character that cut a mountain in half? Oh they're taken down in one hit.

E.g destroying a large object, completing some sort of challenge. Bonus points if it's something the main character tried and failed at. This gives the viewer a frame of reference to how strong this new character is...

It's literally so fucking cool how shonens introduce new characters to shows. You'll notice that they tend to showcase their strength up against existing strong characters or commit some sort of grand physical feat.
