The image announces an upcoming HamTV test contact on Saturday, 18-October at 09:49 UTC (5:49 AM ET) between the 1st Radford Semele Scout Group in Radford Semele, UK, and the ISS. The space and ground teams will attempt to use the recently reinstalled HamTV device. If successful, this will be a step in recommissioning the HamTV system, repaired after a 2018 failure. Watch at https://live.ariss.org/hamtv/, with HamTV's DATV frequency at 2395 MHz. The image shows Jonny Kim making a 2025 school contact via the ARISS Columbus Module radio.
Saturday's contact with 1st Radford Semele Scout Group in the UK will attempt to capture a live HamTV transmissions from the ISS.

Yes that is the current expected output.
There's a testcard generator which the ARISS team are currently pushing through final approvals before it gets plugged in. (Which also functions as a HDMI->NTSC converter to allow use of the new cameras on the station.)

The UK Space Agency has been absorbed into the science department. The potential effects are still unclear
The agency has been the subject of some criticism and some aspects of the new arrangement could be positive.
No, UK Government is not scrapping its space programmes.
Thereβs been some confusion and bungled communications over the musical chairs in civil space policy and the UK Space Agency this week. It all matters less than the chronic lack of focus and leadership from UK Government for 15 years. πππ

Power On: Wednesday, 20-August, 12:35 UTC (8:35 AM ET)
The image also includes a 2015 NASA photo of Samantha Cristoforetti (IZ0UDF) with the ARISS HamTV Transmitter on the ISS.
HamTV testers, the transmissions will go off-line for the first part of the upcoming week. See the graphic for timing.
No timing for a full video test yet, you know we'll share as soon as we know.

When will HamTV start transmitting video?
We expect to schedule a end-to-end video test after Crew 11 gets settled aboard the ISS.
When will HamTV start to be used for educational contacts?
That will be dependent on the testing mentioned above.
Can an SDR device be used?
The software used with SDR devices has developed significantly since the first use of HamTV in 2014. We look forward to hams experimenting with this and seeing the results.
Will HamTV output video that can be decoded with the Icom IC-905?
No, the IC-905 does not currently support decoding digital video.
The BATC site talks about receivers not available in my part of the world. Are there alternative parts lists?
As we get more
information on devices,
weβll work with the BATC
and our other teams
to publish more info.
Let's start the week with some HamTV updates - we compiled the FAQ in the graphic with our experts.

Updating the operating system of the server switched off old insecure TLS ciphers - which broke some windows software using the FFT Websocket connection (QuickTune, LiveTune, OpenTuner, etc.)
This has now been resolved by re-enabling the old TLSv1.0/1.1 ciphers. (yay legacy software!)
