Women in support of the trans+ community - Not in our name

We want the media and politicians to recognise that there is a large number of women who are supportive of the trans+ community. We call on them to report truthfully about the sources of violence against women and to address the systems that perpetuate harm. notinourname.org.uk/petition/not...

My mechanic recently complimented me on my logical reasoning and understanding of mechanics, and said β€œyou’d be an amazing mechanic”.

Good job I’m a nurse, and didn’t β€œgrow out of” being curious about how things work, and how to fix them.

🧡 In the twix between excelling at GCSEs and burnout in AS levels. I considered doing an apprenticeship in car mechanics.

I was actively discouraged because β€œyou won’t like being dirty and oily” - presumably because I was / am a cis girl.

If you were trying to come up with more harmful guidance towards trans and non-binary young people you would be hard pressed to find it. The fact it is backed by Cass shows how wrong it is.
We are already seeing an increase in suicide rates among trans young people.

Just curious 🀨
Do I have to seek permission to cut my hair like this as an adult?
What is a gendered hair cut anyway?

Yes. I also like that you can reread a step if that doesn’t quite sink in. Rather than rewind to hear them say it the same way.

I always go for transcript over watching / listening.
But i can’t get on with subtitles if im watching a tv show.
Unless is Saga on The Bridge - then I can manage that as a compromise for the joy of Saga.

This week I had a β€œrapid car clean-up” experience – unfortunately I was one of the many collisions on the ice. Crashed car admin is the only thing worse than having to quickly empty all the pockets and car cupboards before the recovery arrives.
πŸš™ fortunately no one was hurt

I have a question
How is decreasing the payment allowance for travel supporting the Long Term Plan - hospital to community?
β€œcar mileage rates will drop from 59p to 56p per mile for journeys up to 3,500 miles annually”
Many community nurses use their own vehicles to visit patients. Is this ok?!

Gentle reminder - if you have to speak to someone in the NHS over the next couple of weeks, know this:
The person you speak with is just as frustrated as you - they don’t need to be shouted at, told they don’t care, or even sworn at.
I’ve worked all weekend - I’ve done my best & so have the team.

In a week of tricky conversations I’ve decided that I’d like to be able to use a pilcrow so I can understand the β€œformatting” or intention of the conversation and communication.

I’m looking at how organisations / departments / teams support clinicians who are newly qualified as non-medical prescribers? Bonus points if you are in a community trust, and have supportive things set up for #DistrictNurses with v300 #QueensNurse #NHS

There’s a need to consider how services are designed and modelled, in order to be able to deliver safe effective care in the community. With the β€˜promise’ of shifting care from hospital to community, let’s involve those with the insight and imagination to make changes that will be sustainable

District nurses demand support to prevent patient suffering Those from across the nursing community have taken to social media to warn of patient risks and suffering caused by underfunding

I’ve been working on an investigation across multiple services caring for the same person. Whilst I won’t share specifics, the common themes of communication and sufficient resources to deliver person centred holistic care has cropped up.

This isn’t only about District Nurses being in clinical roles, it’s about those in strategic roles understanding the VALUE &thinking skills of DNs. Strategy needs to be led by ppl who understand the nuances of delivering clinical care in a domestic environment. @theqicn.bsky.social @rcn.org.uk

This is proactive preventive use of services.

Maybe open referrals from District Nurse / UCR teams who will be able to name the people in their communities who would benefit from CGA type review?

Something about a stitch in time perhaps πŸ€”
The knock on transferred cost is exactly what keeps poor people poor. But those who run the pot hole budget are only going to be interested in their budget - they don’t pay the NHS costs for the A&E attendance. It’s silo working and blinkered.

To be Fit for the Future (NHS England 2025) delivering prevention, in a digital way, in the community and we’re serious about change, we need to listen to the people already leading it from the ground up. END/ 🧡
