As someone whose family is from El Salvador and was born and has lived in the U.S. their whole life. I can even begin to put into words how completely disappointed I am right now of both these governments.

I feel lost, disillusioned, ashamed, and scared, yet angry.

I grew up in a cult that taught you how to communicate "effectively." Which basically amounts to making people believe you are interested in what they are saying, and how to lie.

Eye contact makes me nervous but I feel like people don't think I'm genuine unless I force myself too.

Seen recently on University of Cincinnati Campus. The University is a public funded school and must follow federal laws, this doesn't make it any less fucking horrifying.

As someone who is majoring in biology and minoring in sociology, a lot of the topics I'm learning about have been politicized and made controversial over the years by people who don't understand science or how research works. I'm speechless. I'm angry. I'm not surprised by this administration.

𝐍𝐨 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟𝐬: Higher ed. institutions could not take a position on "controversial belief or policy," which is defined as climate/foreign/immigration policies, politics, DEI programs marriage, abortion or any belief or policy that is the subject of political controversy.

𝐁𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬: Full-time faculty would be banned from striking during contract negotiations.

This of note in SB 1:

𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐚𝐧: The bill would prohibit diversity, equity and inclusion in recruiting, training or offering new scholarships. There is a limited exception for research grants that require DEI.

That said, there were roughly 9 people in support of SB 1, and hundreds of people who came out in support against it, yet this regressive bill still passed the senate. Governor Mike DeWine has stated that if this bill reaches his desk, he would not veto it.

I know a lot of people shit on Ohio, but not everyone that lives here is an indoctrinated MAGA supporter. Ohio has unfortunately been gerrymandered to hell, so that people who don't agree with republican views don't have an equal voice when it comes to elections.
