Then again I also have a story idea for "wardens" where they act as assistants to gods. This is heavily based off of Greek mythology but in modern setting because world population skyrocketed and yeah... some delegations need to be made to maintain balance.

I just thought of a story where it's just double intertextuality of how a band of nobodies slowly end up living the the fate of their stories they're based off of and it's up to them to rewrite their fate or succumb to the ending.

Sorry if the ending was underwhelming. This entire thing was an idea after all since I do plan on making a full blown fic of this someday (+ rewatch Corpse Bride to refresh). It's also like... 2 AM and I haven't finished writing my part + I'm like- demotivated because of my recent grading...

Alhaitham lifts Kaveh's hand to his mouth and kisses it gently. What Kaveh expects to be a hot breath of exhale was merely a chilling breeze. Yet a warmth settles in his chest where his formerly beating heart was.

Kaveh looks at Alhaitham wide-eyed.

The startling green eyes have dullen alongside the silver hair that shone in the moonlight. Kaveh brought his hand up to his face, then to his chest, and realized that the life that coursed through Alhaitham was no more.

"Why..." Kaveh cried. "You had a whole life ahead of you."

Alhaitham downed the entire thing in one go. He started to cough horribly before doubling over and coughed out blood. Kaveh was beyond mortified when Alhaitham regained his composure.

"ALHAITHAM! DON'T YOU DARE!" Kaveh rushes up to Alhaitham who has marched back to the altar with the goblet full of poison in his hand. "DON'T YOU DARE DRINK THE WINE OF AGES! NAHIDA DO SOMETHING-!"

The shade goddess could only do so much from her short stature. Alhaitham looked at her +

"Haitham, you need to move on." Kaveh tries to pry Alhaitham's hand off of him. "I'm dead and you're still very much alive with a future. Besides, bringing me justice that I seek is enough."

"Oh? So is me being alive the problem?" Alhaitham questioned. Kaveh realized what he's about to do.

"But what is a life worth living if my happiness disappears before me?" Alhaitham retorted. "Kaveh, as dense as you are for an intellectual who is dead, I am unfortunate to have not met you earlier, to be your love, your happiness."

Kaveh starts to walk away from the altar but Alhaitham held him tightly by the hand, trying to pull him back.

"Siraj, you and the Akademiya are guilty of several crimes of theft and murder. You are now under arrest. Please remain silent." Cyno approached Siraj to apprehend him.

"No...this can't be. IT WAS ALL GOING SO PERFECTLY." Siraj held his head. "ALL FOR THAT- IDIOT BLOND TO RUIN IT ALL!"
