No one will convince me that 2016 was a good year, nostalgia is blinding you all.

A BBC news headline stating β€œPalestine Action ban ruled unlawful but group remains proscribed for now” referring to a recent High Court ruling on the uk government’s decision to proscribe Palestine Action a terror group under the Terrorism Act 2000

Can’t see how the ban isn’t completely lifted but nothing is for certain until the 20th.

Funny how I said I’d be more active on here in 2026 and technically still haven’t made a post in 2026!

That’s pretty normal tbf. Without further information, all I can say is way up ur options and see what YOU prefer because at the end of the day there’s no point going into something that doesn’t give you some personal satisfaction.

Now that 2025 is coming to end, I think it’s safe to say that on a political (but also personal level) this year has been absolutely atrocious and I can’t see myself atm looking back at this year fondly. Here’s hoping 2026 is better (praying).

If a particular org/party starts to change its position on issues that matter to a certain section of their support base in a way they don’t like, you can’t be surprised when they don’t want to support you anymore. It’s that simple really.

β€œPurity Testing” feels like a term designed to shut down any legitimate criticism of a party or political organisation

I personally don’t want to live in a world where parents feel like they are letting their kids down because they aren’t able to get a specific gift for them due to money or other reasons.

I know this is probably the most milquetoast thing to say but it really is sad how much Christmas has been become about prioritising gift giving rather than the moments you spend together and how this has inadvertently caused a lot of stress for parents.

If unemployment is gonna increase anyways, I would rather have day one rights on stuff like sick pay and increased protection from unfair dismissal (among other things) instead of having none of that but hey at least you have more money in ur pockets. Idk this might just be me tho.

20.12.2025 18:28 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

You get to have less rights in the workplace than you otherwise would have but it’s okay because some of you will find being employed easier whilst others…well at least you’ve got higher unemployment benefits to live on πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

An article in the independent discussing a leaked paper by Labour Together, a think tank close to the current uk government.

β€œIt said that the government should "scrap 80 per cent of the Employment Rights Bill and build out unemployment insurance".
"This could be funded by higher taxes on employers (cheaper than the compliance cost of ERB (Employment Rights Bill)) and small contributions from workers."
It also said new technology makes the
"creative destruction" of job losses inevitable and urged the government to have the "most flexible markets" of superpowers such as the US and China, while "easy firing means easy hiring" which would benefit both companies and workers. The paper also suggests ending spending on infrastructure projects in the southeast of England, saying it can "pay for its own stuff".”

I find the implication of what’s being said here really dystopian. That we should allow easy firing because it leads to easy hiring which is β€œbeneficial” in the age of AI where unemployment is gonna increase. So basically,

I know doctor who is all about change but it’s actually exhausting if the new incarnation (but maybe not really an incarnation) turns out to only be there for a couple of specials. It’ll feel like spin the wheel to me.
