Almond having her fur blown back by the wind. She had over 5 leashes outside in her life, all made of steel. She broke every single one. She was a fighter and stronger than I could ever wish for until the end.
Almond playing with a toy corn cob. She never had toys until she was around 9-10, and she was rarely seen without one when it started. Her favorites were a lamb chop plushie she would never let off her bed, and a giant crinkly green squid that she would always want us to throw/tug of war with.
Almond laying down in the distance against our cabinet, looking back at me. She had dozens of spots she loved to rest in. Theyโd always be high-foot traffic areas, so no matter where she was, there was always a pair of hands nearby to pet her.
The last photo I ever took of Almond. She was diagnosed with cancer, and I needed to take a weekend to fly out to see her one last time. My last memory was when my grandmother came to see us all. By the end, her eyes could barely see, so she heard my grandmother nearby. And when she smelled her, and felt her hand on her head, she didnโt seem a day over 4 weeks old. Until the very end, Almond was full of energy and love. She loved every single human who ever came her way, and she loved every animal she came in contact with. She was the best dog I couldโve ever asked for.
This past Friday, I said goodbye to my best friend of 14 years, Almond. She was an amazing dog, one that everyone in my family agrees was more than a pet. She lived an incredible life, and I hope no matter where she is, sheโs jumping for joy and leaping on everyone she sees for pets and kisses.
