Magick is obtained through exposure to extremes of natural elements e.g. wind and water magick from storms.

Whether or not an elemental extreme will kill an elf, or bestow them with magick, is dependant on genetic phenotype 🧬

Magick can then be refined through study and training.

A little bit yeah! I’m intending for a significant portion of the island’s inhabitants to somewhat agree with his view but, most people agree that things should be done differently on the island

In Gleaming Spires, sorcerers are not allowed to hold a title such as a dukedom etc. This is to prevent them from having too much political power. If a titled member of the nobility becomes a sorcerer, they are stripped of their titles, and sent to a tower to begin studies.

The constable of F-I-G is currently quite one dimensional, and is more just a nuisance than anything really sinister. A stickler for the old traditions and rules of the mainland, all of which aren’t necessary followed on the island ☀️🌒

F-I-G is run by a village head, who is elected each year by the rest of the village.

Contrasting, the city of Gleaming Spires has a hereditary monarchy with a King and Queen. They have a council of advisors (including the occasional sorcerer) whom they listen to, however.

In my last short story, the three sorcerers of F-I-G were revealed - Selinewyn, Bronlas, and Faerynne.

They are the only (known) elven magic wielders on the island of World’s Edge.

Sorcerers are expected to live reclusive lives, living in towers away from ‘normal folk’… 🌒☀️ #Febchantment

In World’s Edge, magick is extremely polarising - many fear it, and many also covet it. I would say its importance to the story is varying - at heart, this is a cozy fantasy story about people, some of whom have access to magick. Not a story about magick. ☀️🌒
