NCBE offers scoring range on new bar exam, but some want more information The ABA Journal is read by half of the nation's 1 million lawyers every month. It covers the trends, people and finances of the legal profession from Wall Street to Main Street to Pennsylvania Avenue.

Professors Howarth and Merritt are asking the right questions and no court should move forward with the NextGen UBE until we have satisfactory answers. Lest we forget the blunders of 2020 and 2025, "trust us," and "we promise we'll be ready," are simply not enough.

Teaching is an honor and a privilege, and a role that comes with a great deal of responsibility and people placing their trust in you. That he somehow thinks that stepping back from "public roles" but doesn't consider teaching as being one of those is absurd.

Sitting in the county title office and I overheard this actual conversation:
Stranger 1: Are you here to title a brand new car?
Stranger 2: Yes. I accidentally drove my car into a brick wall.
Stranger 2: Oh my gosh hun! You should buy pre-owned.

I suffer from "reply-all overwhelm syndrome." I will be seeking university accommodations.

The NCBE's role is not to tell law professors what to teach, according to the NCBE. But adaptations will be required. I really hope a lot of doctrinal professors are paying attention.

Time to start re-thinking law school exam drafting.

This is something every new lawyer will do in practice. Unless they are in civil litigation, no? Good for the DAs and PDs. Not so good for a lot of Big Law folks.

10 jurisdictions will give this test in 2026. A fully computer based exam. Should be easy to do those mini PTs on your laptops, folks. Also, we know reading online poses difficulties for many students.

So the current UBE assesses all of this already, according to the NCBE. But competency 2 is new to NextGen.
