How not to answer a question, demonstrated here by the DFI Minister. In my view, this is a reasonable and pertinent question because it's not clear to me exactly what risk there is to the A1 and A4 schemes from the current A5 legal case. The Minister still hasn't explained the rationale for pausing.

This February has been very bad on Northern Ireland's roads, with ten fatalities so far this month - double the long-term rate. Please take care out there.

They're not planning traffic lights or a roundabout. The only thing I can think is that DFI want drivers to wait until there is a long clear gap before turning, which probably would improve safety but would probably also increase congestion. That could be the trade-off they're looking at. 3/3

@infrastructure-ni.gov.uk today said "There has been no delay to the Belfast Rapid Transport 2 (BRT2) project". But the referenced press release from February 2025 says "Work will begin on this phase later this year [2025]." That looks like a delay to me. 🤔

I don’t think it does help him either. His whole electoral pitch is based on the idea of it being Hungary v the EU. A fuel crisis that can be blamed on Brussels would be far more useful to him than just being able to say “I solved this issue”. I think the EU is being quite canny here.

I don’t think free speech means “you will listen to me”. It just means “you can’t be arrested for expressing an opinion”. Nobody is obliged to listen to you.

Trump is motivated primarily by money. Cutting off arms sales to Ukraine and its allies would seriously harm the US arms industry. He might do it, but I suspect he won't.
