READ: 'Empowering sanitation workers: Lessons from a pilot support fund' by @andreshueso.bsky.social
Great reflections & work - incl.
@cljofficial.bsky.social supporting workers in Pakistan to unionise, forming a national association of sewer cleaners.

Dirty water and endless wars: why cholera outbreaks are on the rise again
The number of cases globally has surged since 2021, as war and the climate crisis pile pressure on vaccine supplies
804,721 cholera cases and 5,805 deaths in 2024, says @WHO, a near 50% increase from 2023.
"Drivers are increased flooding related to the climate crisis, combined with poor water and sanitation conditions [and a] lack of cholera vaccines in Africa."

The most exciting thing in my job over the past few years? My involvement in the sanitation workers empowerment support fund.
Designing it was challenging and exhilarating.
Seeing what the groups achieved was humbling and inspiring.
