It’ll be nice when I’m on trips. Maybe I just keep apps to being at the hotel. It’s not like if I’m at a museum, I’m not going to get dick downed in 15 minutes when someone ie available.

I’ve made some friends off of it, and that’s basically what the intent was. Scuff and Sniffies are a lot less irritating, so I can check in there without wanting to just flush the phone down the toilet.

I guess the point of the story is that I just decided to delete Grindr completely. Account is still there so if I ever want to get back in. But the bots and the shit ads are just too much.

It’s all a business and servers have to be paid for. But there’s better ways to treat users.

I should open a manhunt account to see what it’s like in Houston in 2026. But I imagine it is just terrible people that are too scared to update to a better service.

I remember in college when Manhunt had a big update, and put a ton behind paywalls. That combined with the dawn of smartphones and apps finally put that to rest.

Since I don’t have them with me at all times, i figured paying for a subscription was dumb, then. And I have to say, free tier Grindr is still the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Absolutely miserable experience.

Unfortunately, it’s the most used.

State of the Apps: I have had them relegated to my iPad for awhile now. Just so that when I’m in public, be conscious of what is around me as opposed to “let me ping up in a different grid.”
