NEW: The top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee is demanding an explanation on discrepancies between public statements about wildland firefighter staffing and a ProPublica report showing thousands of vacancies in the Forest Service’s workforce.

FBI agents are not trained to patrol streets. And every agent that is assigned to do that is NOT investigating:

*foreign spies stealing gov’t and trade secrets
*foreign and domestic terrorist threats
*crimes like fraud, corruption, trafficking, and violent crimes (among others)

Do you feel safer?

Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good.

I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.

Smithsonian to restore Trump to impeachment exhibit ‘in the coming weeks’ A placard referring to Trump’s two impeachments was removed in July, after the Smithsonian agreed to perform a “content review”

The Smithsonian said that it would restore information about President Trump’s two impeachments to an exhibit in the National Museum of American History within weeks.

The Post previously reported that the museum reverted the exhibit to how it looked in 2008.

so, here’s a thing that happened Friday: the July jobs report was released — and it was fucking abysmal. let’s watch Fox News yammerhead Maria Bartiromo get shocked into silence as the numbers cross her desk.

“the NASDAQ down about two hundred, go— [very long pause] 73,000. 73,000 jobs created in the month of July. the numbers just coming out.”

that’s horrible. the entire US labor force is 163.5 million. 73,000 is a rounding error away from zero. the American economy basically ground to a standstill in July.

the guy who speaks last in the above clip has it exactly right:

“look, I think this is all a result, this disappointing number is a result of all the turmoil over tariffs and trade wars.”

no shit, Sherlock.

congratulations, Donny. in just seven short months you’ve taken Joe Biden’s roaring economy, dragged it to the gravel pit, and shot it in the fucking head — and now everyone’s just standing around, going ‘where’s Economy?’

of course, President Toddler reacted to the bad news in the only way he’s emotionally equipped to. he freaked the fuck out and power-loaded an infinite series of diapers.

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

We have hit pay dirt, so please stop talking about what we will forever call "the Jeffrey EPSTEIN Hoax"

Sadly, his PAST supporters have bought into this "bullshit" hook, line and sinker.

We should just be grateful he doesn't want their support anymore & stick together like glue.

how much of the money from the ICE/tax cuts bill is just going to go to scammers, do you think? www.richmonder.org/this-tuckaho...

To whom it may concern, and it should concern the editor:

I was quoted in your publication:

https://cosmosmagazine.com/earth/oceans/can-we-engineer-our-way-out-of-ocean-acidification/

Still, others aren't convinced that good intentions are enough. Dr. David Ho, Professor of Oceanography at University of Hawaii at Manoa, a cofounder and the Chief Science Officer of |C|Worthy, a non-profit that works on verifying ocean-based carbon dioxide removal, believes carbon removal efforts like ocean alkalinity enhancement shouldn't be left solely in the hands of private companies.

"They have no way to prove that what they're doing is effective - that's a big problem," Dr Ho said.

The crux of the dilemma, he explains, is that we are fighting a planetary-scale problem, but are doing it with tools that are still being built and tested. Geoengineering is not inherently good or bad, but it is inherently powerful. And power, especially when exercised in ecosystems as complex and fragile as the ocean, must be handled with caution.
However, I have never spoken to your reporter, nor would I have said those things. I would like you to remove my quote from your story, and issue a public correction and apology. Furthermore, you should look into whether the other parts of the article are also factually correct. Thanks.

The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns.

Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.

The list goes on and on.

Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.

Here's how Trump's lackeys plan to keep immigrants out of US colleges On Wednesday, the Department of Education announced it is investigating five universities over their scholarship programs for receipts of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, a program that ...

The Trump administration has:

✅ Fired 1,400 civil rights staff
✅ Resolved 65 complaints all year
✅ Ignored a 25,000-case backlog
✅ Opened 50+ fake “DEI” witch hunts

But sure, let’s investigate scholarships for Dreamers. Priorities, people.
