Whether they're blaming vaccines and Tylenol, or selling dubious "remedies," what they're really doing is promoting the perception that families (and especially mothers) can prevent and treat Autism. And thus also the perception that people with Autism and their families don't need social support.

Very interesting & tallies with my findings on experimentation @ Cdn Heritage. I would put leadership at the top of the list; in my work I found that it was not enough for leaders to accept experimentation/innovation - they need to actively *champion* it

With a national inquiry people who have suffered immensely, including losing babies and partners and loved ones, will be compelled to share their experiences once again, with no promise of things changing. How many times can people expect to re-traumatize themselves by sharing?

I no longer live in the UK but still follow updates relating to maternity services carefully. I have mixed opinions on @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social announcement of a national inquiry. +it will bring more resources & attention to a vital issue. -issues are *already known* ACTION is what is needed

Drowning Doesnโt Look Like Drowning
Drowning is not the violent, splashing call for help that most people expect.
Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

Absolutely fascinating research. I've lived in 3/4 countries & seen how this plays out in diff contexts. I'm surprised choice is lowest in DE where the pathway chosen at 10 has potential huge implications for later in life. As a parent the main choice I face now in Canada (NS) is early FI or Engl.

A hand with pink nail polish holds a book titled Trading on Art: Cultural Diplomacy and Free Trade in North America by Sarah E.K. Smith. The book cover shows twelve paper plates, on each a state or province from Canada, Mexico and the US is rendered in red, blue or green. In the background you can see the brushstrokes of a grey painting with a building and people.
