“ I've returned from the hunt. River of fate, guide me towards my next encounter... ”

[ Nilah's hand drifted to Quinn's front, her hand on the necklace to keep the Ranger close. Nilah tugged playfully as if it were a leash. ]

“ Whenever you next hunt a beast, how about you pull me a matching tooth with an 'N' engraved? I'd like that. ”

[ Nilah's lips met, then locked with Quinn's in a sudden, passionate kiss. Meanwhile, her diligent hands tied the necklace around the scout's neck, the kiss broken soon after completion... ]

“ ...That makes the tooth yours to wear. Besides, you wear it better than I, Quinn. ”

“ I could not wear it, however. Although I casted down Abyss-Eye, his carcass was your reward. And... ”

[ Nilah unhooked the back of the necklace. She'd leaned closer and wrapped the string's ends around Quinn's neck, the eye contact never broken as she did. Nilah giggled to herself, until... ]

[ Nilah snickered at the sight now that she understood the intent behind it. ]

“ Awh. You're quite sweet. ”

[ Nilah approached and plucked the necklace from Quinn's hands; she'd admired the gentle carving on the tooth. On the farlander's face, a pink color set in from the flattery. ]

[ Nilah nodded at Quinn's offered time; it was rare to find a scout so dedicated to their craftsmanship out here. Perhaps she'd truly seek Quinn out, even for the vermin. Would the scout make it that much quicker? ]

[ However, it was then that the scout approached with a necklace in hand. ]

“ Now, what was this 'project' you've been preparing? Because I spy a creation of sorts between your hands...! ”

“ For now, trust that the Hullbreaker's reign will be challenged in due time. ”

[ Her hands fell to her hips, with her eyes affixed onto Quinn's finished necklace. It was then that an amused scoff had left Nilah, her gaze narrowed with curiosity. ]

[ As the farlander struck the landing, the controlled liquid flowed into the seventh seal once again. ]

“ You'll earn many nights of sleep before we set out, I'm afraid. If that doesn't work for you, I *always* hunt the lesser prey on my free-time and could use the company.”

“ Like before, I'll leave the creature’s carcass to those who travel with me. Unlike before, I haven't a clue when I'll be prepared with a full crew. ”

[ Finally, the boat drifted against the docks and came to a halt. Nilah sprung onto the harbor; water trailed behind her fluid motion. ]

[ As Nilah spoke, Bilgewater Bay begun to come into view around the corner. Even as the daylight begun to slip away, the dock was still as bustling as ever... ]

“ It's said to be accompanied by storms, churning the waves into an all-consuming vortex to force sailors into battle. I intend to face it alone, I have the vessel to sail but lack the crew to man it. So, a scout could be a fine starting point for my expedition...! ”

“ Well! I may have a mark sooner than expected. ”

[ Nilah lifted her index, as if to call the scout's attention and pointed out to the ocean. ]

“ The Hullbreaker, a fearsome leviathan somewhere out in the Guardian's Sea, it gorges itself full off of warships and hearts of men. ”

“ By all means! Work to your heart's content. Underneath my command, the waters will guide us. ”

[ It was as Nilah promised, the two sailed out to the calm sea. Like when they'd first set-out, Nilah was fixated on the open ocean; she thought over what else came after this... Then, it hit her. ]

[ Nilah helped the woman into the boat and released her hold soon after. Once Quinn had been secured, Nilah conjured forth a stream of water from the seal. Just as before she'd made a downward gesture: the water obeyed her movement, it held up the hull and the ship begun to jut ahead. ]

[ Unlike last time, Nilah turned to face Quinn and beckoned her to board; a hand offered to be taken. As if to entice, Nilah's smile grew wide and toothy; obviously amused. ]

“ So, what will you do once you've returned? Find proper rest before the next hunt calls, I hope? ”

“ That'd be all for us here! We'll return to Bilgewater, I'm sure another beast needs slaying by now. ”

[ Finally, the two broke out into the daylight once and for all. Nilah set her path directly to the dighy; her foot on the front of the boat, and her backfoot confidently on its floor. ]

“ You're also a touch more philosophical than I expected, too. ”

[ Although Nilah joked in retort, she'd shot Quinn a knowing look; they were of the same mind on the topic. As the bubble opened, she'd stowed away her summoned weapon, then Nilah stepped in pursuit of Quinn. ]

[ The hand that gripped the formless blade tightened; ready to pivot. With one upward motion of her body, Nilah sent the two into suspension; the bubble giving rise with her command. Eventually, the bubble had breached the surface; it unsealed to allow passage back onto land. ]

[ If not to slay the beasts of eld or torment the high seas in search of riches. Or was she perhaps already fulfilled with her winnings from Abyss-Eye? Nilah wouldn't spare it another thought, once she'd been questioned about readiness. ]

“ Ready, be cautious, the water may unsteady during...! ”

“ I know a merciful look when I see one, Quinn. Your compassion for life is respectable. ”

[ With those words, the impression that Nilah believed Quinn's lack of heart to sell off the egg was set. For what reason did a person like Quinn end up in a haven of bandits and monsters? ]

[ Upon seeing the egg be spared an early fate by being pushed up dearly in Quinn's arms, Nilah chuckled with expectation. To spare choose life when asked to greedily reap your rewards, that was a test of true character. In Nilah's eyes, Quinn had passed. ]

[ Wanting to hear the scout's thoughts on this alone, Nilah offered no answer to their back-and-forth. Instead, there were only curious eyes of emerald that watched Quinn's optics closely. What was going on in that mind, what would she say? Nilah could only wonder with a soft, patient smile. ]

[ This observation was the smoking gun for Quinn's position as an outlander; no bilgerat cared this deeply on the ebb and flow of life. It wasn't to be misunderstood! Nilah found this trait endearing, the truest wanderer was one with a heart for the nature they walked with. ]

[ There was nod from Nilah as she'd let go of Quinn's hand; she'd honestly forgotten they'd intertwined hands. However, once asked she'd freed the Scout. ]

“ You seem a touch more cautious with your treasure than I was expecting. You're concerned for the life inside, aren't you, Quinn? ”

[ Nilah smirked with confidence. ]

“ After all, this is your loot to decide the fate of. I've heard these eggs come with quite the price tag. What will you do with it when we return? ”

[ It resembled something like a giant gem castaway at sea. It could most certainly hold its weight; it would just take some effort to move. ]

“ To face me is one of the highest honors a monster could hope for. Only time will tell if Abyss-Eye's kin could be blessed with such a privilege~ ”
