βThe UAW supports aggressive tariff action to protect American manufacturing jobs as a good first step to undoing decades of anti-worker trade policy. We do not support using factory workers as pawns in a fight over immigration or drug policy.
Oil & gasoline higher but not by much. Oil was higher 2 weeks ago and gasoline futures (RBOB) back to August levels.
Keys will be:
1. length of tariffs
2. Canada's response
3. Location
Midwest drivers could see price hike soon as most Canadian imports go to refineries there
As we search for the cause of the deadly LA fires, an obscure 2019 California law protecting utilities by capping potential damages comes into focus

Critical aspect is getting that water to where it needs to go.
Whether that's fire management, undergrowth control, home insurance policies, infrastructure management (hydrants, etc) or a combination of all of the above ... let's just hope all this horrible damage and devastation isn't for naught
When we find the cause of these awful L.A. area fires -- and we likely will -- it needs to effect real change.

If your light and heat are working from North Carolina to Virginia to Ohio ... thank coal.
Coal + nat gas + nuclear are 88% of your power generation mix this morning.
It's not pretty and certainly not what we'd think would be the case in 2025, but that's our reality.

US LNG stocks such as $LNG and $GTLS are benefitting from the surge in exports.
Here's some of the discussion on the show today: tinyurl.com/2vjhpdpn
We will have more tomorrow (Friday) with the always outspoken CEO of $EQT on the show. 2p ET tune in.
What's clear is what we've been reporting on for nearly 4 years: American nat gas saves Europe by keeping the light and the heat on. Europe's natural gas & power prices are exponentially more than the U.S. They would be even higher without American LNG, which continues to flow into Europe every day.
03.01.2025 01:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Both sides are taking a financial hit and some countries in Europe are losing energy sources. No one wins. As such, it seems possible (or even plausible) that Ukraine and Russia end up striking some kind of deal to keep the gas flowing.
Or not. Time will tell.
US LNG to Europe's rescue, again!
As we discussed on Power Lunch today, Ukraine has said "nyet" to Russian gas. This ends (at least for now) a deal to move gas between Russia and parts of Europe that has been in place since 1991.
Should we do a poll to see if we need a poll option for this fine platform?
