Wow, I'm surprised by the price. I thought for sure it would be at least twice of what they're charging. I think I may need one of those. 😄

It's still open here at 6:45pm local. Lot's of signals on FT8 and a few on SSB.

I just made a good bunch of SSB QSOs on 6m. You may have to tune around a bit between 50.125 and 50.200 MHz. Since the 818 doesn't have a band scope you may miss a string signal higher up the band while the calling frequency may be dead.

When 6m is open a vertical should work just fine.

I didn't expect to see an opening like this over here either at this time of the year. I'll see if I can push the Es cloud a bit in your direction. 😄

It doesn't look like it, but I worked my best DX on 70cm today. My signal traveled 448,000 miles, or 717.000km, to cover a distance of just 149 miles (238km) for my first EME QSO. 😀

I'm surprised they still use that range of frequencies. I don't know what would be a good FM receiver for that range.

I just got a DJ-X100T a few weeks ago that seems to work very well (got it for RX of DMR/DSTAR/C4FM) and has decent audio but I'm not sure how well it receives the VHF low bands.

Looks like it keeps transmitting the same image on every pass.

I don't know at what times you are trying to work MS, but late evenings and early mornings are the best times here. During the day the Geminids are below the horizon so I'd hear very little MS.

Screenshot of the Virgo app. It shows where the meteor storms are originating from in the sky. At this time it shows the Geminids setting in the NW. The compass dial is showing lines indicating where to aim the antenna, SW or NE in this case for the Geminids.

To find out where to look in the sky for meteors, or where to aim your beam for #MeteorScatter, try the old Virgo app (Windows and Linux) maintained by DB1BM and DL8AAU:
